ABOUT

Charlotte Puttock is a studio artist currently working in the Northeastern portion of the U.S.. She graduated from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, WV, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with a concentration in painting as well as a Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in English Literature in May 2024. Charlotte graduated Magna Cum Laude and received the Ikenberry Award from the University in recognition of frequent community service as well as service to faculty and peers.
Charlotte defines herself as a painter, but frequently experiments with sculptural forms and different surfaces in the creation of her works. While her paintings have a strong basis in reality, they are brimming with otherworldly and spiritual elements; she primarily uses oil paints as they allow her to incorporate elements of early Baroque and Dutch Golden Age paintings in her work. Raised as a Tibetan Buddhist, she explores her paintings as a response to the relationships one has with oneself, quiet yet dramatic situations that arise from the struggles of human life. She frequently explores the idea of impermanence in her work, incorporating elements of literature and history to reference universal aspects of the human experience.
